Our retreat will include a trip to the remarkable Bar-V-Bar (Crane Petroglyph Heritage) Site, where over 1,000 petroglyphs tell a story of alignment, cycles, and cosmic timing. These carvings, etched over 600 years ago by the Southern Sinagua people, offer a glimpse into ancient wisdom—a deep reverence for the cycles of nature, time, and purpose. This site, one of the largest and best-preserved in the Southwest, invites us to reflect on how we can also use the natural rhythms of the cosmos to guide and empower our lives and businesses.

On March 20th, the spring equinox, we’ll gather to witness the ancient solar calendar here come to life as the sun’s beam aligns with a specially placed petroglyph. This alignment—created with purpose and precision—marks a day of equal light and dark, symbolizing balance and renewal. Just as these ancient people used celestial timing to guide their lives, we, too, can align our business strategies with cosmic cycles, attuning to the rhythm and timing of the natural world to make clear, purposeful decisions.

Our trip to the iconic Lowell Observatory, where the the planet Pluto was discovered, will provide us an opportunity to connect with the cosmos and explore the origins of our understanding of planetary cycles, which form the foundation of astrological insights. Gazing at celestial bodies through the powerful Dyer telescope allows for a direct experience of the planets and stars, fostering a deeper appreciation for how these distant worlds influence human behavior and timing. As you know, planetary cycles inform everything from significant periods within our lives, personal realizations, life-transforming shifts, to the more mundane strategic decision-making areas of business such as understanding the timing of launches, cycles, and growth phases in business. By seeing these cosmic bodies up close, we can gain a tangible sense of the forces that guide astrological principles and, consequently, business rhythms.

Seeing the planets in a natal or transit chart is one thing, seeing the rings of Saturn or the storm on Jupiter, or the craters of the Moon with your own eyes is quite another. This will be a guided journey through the cosmos that will allow us to choose our own destinations. The 24-inch Dyer Telescope is a PlaneWave CDK24a, an f/6.5 Corrected Dall-Kirkham astrograph that offers an exceptionally sharp view of the sky.

At the telescope, an educator will show us the best the night sky has to offer—planets, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and more—and tell us about how stars evolve, what forms they take during their lifetimes, or how the rings of Saturn came to be. Outside of the telescope dome, our educator will use a high-powered laser to point out prominent stars and constellations while sharing stories of how the stars first formed.
